The current conflict between Russia and Ukraine is an escalation of the ongoing conflict that began in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea by Russia. In recent years, fighting has intensified in eastern Ukraine, where pro-Russian separatists have been waging a rebellion against the Ukrainian government.

Since early 2021, tensions have increased, with Ukraine accusing Russia of amassing troops along the border and providing military support to separatist rebels. Clashes between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian separatists have intensified, resulting in casualties on both sides and causing significant displacement of civilians.

The international community has called for an immediate ceasefire and for both sides to engage in diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully. However, tensions remain high, and the situation continues to evolve rapidly. The conflict highlights the urgent need for a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
