Thursday, October 1, 2020 MADRID – The conflict in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh continues to mount as Azerbaijan advances against the Armenian positions, inflicting thousands of casualties along the way.
The fiercest clashes between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces in years over the breakaway region were ignited on Sunday.
At least 100 people have reportedly been killed with hundreds wounded in the latest flare-up.
The fighting is the heaviest seen in the long-running conflict since 2016. Both States have declared martial law and Armenia ordered the total mobilization of its military, according to media reports.
The Europe Peace Foundation (EPF) is closely following developments over the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The EPF urges both sides to stop the armed confrontation, refrain from action and rhetoric that provoke tension, and undertake immediate measures to prevent further escalation.
