Friday, August 18, 2017 MADRID. Yesterday afternoon a van entered the Paseo de las Ramblas, one of the most popular tourist spots in the city of Barcelona, killing 14 people and injuring a dozen. The victims were randomly from 35 different countries that were visiting the Paseo that day. After this terrible massacre a second attack was perpetrated in the Tarragona´s coast.

Once again, Europe has become the target of terrorist attacks against its most innocent population exempted of any responsibility for governments’ decisions or any armed conflict with other regions of the world.

Between 2015 and 2017, Europe has endured around 15 attacks perpetrated in some cases with weapons and bombs and more recently with trucks and vans precipitated against pedestrians concentrated in touristic venues.

The Europe Peace Foundation (EPF)  joins the international repudiation to these criminal acts and strongly condemns these cowardly attacks as well as any exercise of violence that only sends a message of hatred and cruel impunity against the lives of innocent people. These terrorist actions only will lead to more deaths, fear and thirst for revenge.

Our Foundation calls on all governments and organizations involved in every conflict that afflict our world today to settle their differences through dialogue and diplomatic initiatives for peace, security and harmony among all countries.

Let us unite our voices in the condemnation of any use of force, violence and terror that only will disturb the necessary peaceful coexistence between cultures, races and religions.

Humanity is only one and we all have the sacred duty to safeguard it.
