Monday, May 27, 2024 – At least 45 people have been killed, including women and children, in an Israeli air strike on a camp for displaced Palestinians in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, according to media reports.

These operations must stop. There are no safe areas in Rafah for Palestinian civilians. Some 800,000 people have fled Rafah since the start of an Israeli ground operation there three weeks ago, but hundreds of thousands are still believed to be sheltering there. At least 36,050 Palestinians have been killed and 81,026 people have been wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7, 2023.

The Europe Peace Foundation (EPF) urges Israel to end its military operation in Rafah immediately.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening every day and the lives of more than two million Palestinians remain at extreme risk. This horrific violence must stop immediately. Enough is enough. This must stop now. “Urgent action is needed to protect civilians and prevent further staggering levels of human suffering. Civilians and the infrastructure they rely on – including hospitals, shelters, and schools – must be protected.

We urge the international community to come together to demand an immediate humanitarian ceasefire by all parties in the conflict and lasting peace in Israel and Palestine
