Wednesday, October 18, 2023 – I strongly condemn the attack on the Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, where hundreds of people including patients, healthcare workers and families that had been seeking refuge in and around the hospital were killed .

No patient should be killed in a hospital bed. There are no words to describe the level of human suffering, hospitals and medical personnel are protected under international humanitarian law. The destruction of Al Ahli hospital is a devastating loss of human life and The protection of civilian life must come first.

I call for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” in the Israel-Gaza war and humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach those in need urgently.
