Newly elected president of Brazil, for the second time, Luiz Inacio “Lula” da Silva was sworn into office this past week.

For many in Brazil and around the world Lula represents a change in Brazil.

He promises to focus on social impact projects to decrease poverty, reach zero deforestation in the rain forest and fight for equal gender and LGBTQ rights.

His planned efforts are a reminder of what is necessary for a country to grow in peace.

We at the Europe Peace Foundation are in solidarity with any effort for social justice and the protection of the health of the earth.
