The women of Afghanistan are living under unimaginable circumstances of physical, sexual, mental, and emotional abuse from their government and families.

Endless reports by women recount inhumane acts often by their husbands of mutilation, rape, and torture. 

Last year Afghanistan came under the control of the Taliban. 

This new leadership does not protect or respect the rights of women. 

Women are denied divorces and legal representation that protect them from gender-based violence. 

This type of society has no place in the 21st century. Women and girls are not  property. 

There is no peace, health, prosperity or freedom in a country that denies women human rights. 

We stand with the women of Afghanistan and all women around the world as they continue to demand their freedoms as humans.
