The risk of nuclear weapons is one of the most significant humanitarian risks facing the world today.

The use of nuclear weapons would have catastrophic consequences, causing immense human suffering, long-term environmental damage, and a destabilization of the global political order.

Even a limited nuclear exchange could result in hundreds of thousands of deaths, and the long-term effects on survivors and their descendants could be devastating.

Additionally, the risk of accidental or unauthorized use of nuclear weapons remains a concern, as do the challenges of nuclear proliferation and terrorism.

It is critical that the international community takes action to reduce the risk of nuclear weapons, including through disarmament efforts, diplomatic engagement, and robust safety and security measures. Failure to do so would jeopardize the well-being of all people and future generations.

We at the Europe Peace Foundation stand in solidarity with those standing against nuclear weapons and who are fighting to protect the global community from nuclear warfare.
