OFFICIAL MEETING BETWEEN EPF PRESIDENT KC AND THE CHARGÉ D’ AFFAIRES OF NIGERIA IN SPAIN
Madrid, Thursday, April 6, 2017. Today a meeting was held at the Embassy of Nigeria in Madrid between the Chargé d´Affaires of Nigeria in Madrid, Mr. Eric Adagogo BELL-GAM and Europe Peace Foundation´s President Sappan KC, Hum Bdr.
The conversation between both personalities focused on today Nigeria´s main events. President KC stated his support to the Nigerian people, discussed internal and external obstacles to achieve peace and security, commented about the health crisis and offered his advocacy in future peace endeavors and health issues affecting the people of Nigeria.
On the same token President KC submitted a letter addressed to the President of Nigeria, Honorable Muhammadu Buhari. In the letter Mr. KC stated his concerns about important issues such as Boko Haram forces´ presence in the conflict, human rights violations, the rampant discrimination based on gender, ethnicity and religion and the violence that it implies. Other topics discussed were the inconclusive rescue of Chibok´s schoolgirls and their captors ‘prosecution.
President KC acknowledged Nigerian government’s peace efforts and the volatile stability in the country. He also commented how the country´s socio-economic and healthcare achievements have been harmed by the conflict resulting in massive displacements, medical facilities and services’ deterioration. Issues like forced labor, underage marriages, genital mutilation as well as the government´s intervention to eradicate them were also processed during the encounter.
President KC highlighted Nigeria´s healthcare crisis, poor sanitation and access to potable water and explained how Europe Peace Foundation´s mission will address this situation. Both President KC and Chargé d´Affairs Mr. Eric agreed upon the idea that Nigeria needs the collaboration of the international community to achieve peace and access to health for all.
Lastly, President KC expressed his tireless commitment to advance human rights, democracy values as well as the peace in the country and improvement of the health sector in Nigeria.
