Saturday, March 8, 2025. The theme “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment” serves as a poignant reminder that every woman is entitled to respect and acknowledgment. I stand in solidarity with the observance of International Women’s Day 2025. It is crucial to reflect on the tireless efforts of countless women who have fought for enhanced social rights and the establishment of a more equitable society. Nevertheless, despite the progress made, it is imperative to recognize the numerous goals that remain unachieved.
Women across the globe continue to endure discrimination, violence, and inequality. Millions of women and girls exist under the threat of armed conflicts, where their rights are frequently deemed expendable. In alignment with my Global Peace 2030 agenda, I call for an end to the violence against women, particularly in regions such as Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, Yemen, and Syria.
Our societies carry a historical obligation to women. It is essential to eliminate gender-based violence, achieve wage equality, and ensure that women have equal opportunities to lead and govern in our diverse communities. Fortunately, an increasing number of both men and women are becoming aware of their own strengths and vulnerabilities, with more individuals actively participating in this transformative movement each day.
On this significant day, I wish to highlight the challenging circumstances faced by women in conflict zones and developing nations. Regardless of religious or cultural differences, access to quality education and healthcare is fundamental for the advancement of women’s rights and freedoms. I demand that all women be granted freedom, peace, equality, justice, healthcare, and human rights without any form of discrimination.
