Wednesday, March 8, 2017, Madrid. The Europe Peace Foundation ( EPF) is consternated and shocked after today’s attack to a hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The EPF raises its voice to condemn this attack and reaffirm its position against violence and arms race. EPF repudiates this savage act against humanity which warns us of the seriousness of the conflict in a region that the world cannot continue to ignore.

The attack was perpetrated when members of a group dressed in medical gowns entered the hospital opening fire at hospital workers, patients and doctors. During the attack more than 30 people were killed and more than 50 were wounded.

The escalation of attacks on health institutions indicates the most deliberated violation of international humanitarian laws that defend the neutrality of health workers, doctors, medical institutions and medical material.

The EPF urges all parties involved in this conflict to observe and respect international law to use the means of dialogue, negotiation and diplomatic agreements to resolve a conflict that has claimed too many innocent lives and irreversible losses.
