Hunger is not merely a humanitarian crisis—it is a fundamental threat to peace. When communities suffer from food insecurity, their dignity is eroded, social bonds fray, and grievances intensify. Conflict-affected regions are especially vulnerable: supply chains collapse, farmland is abandoned, and aid is obstructed. In such environments, the absence of food becomes a tool of war, undermining stability and amplifying cycles of violence.
The Europe Peace Foundation affirms that sustainable peace must include food justice at its core. We commit to integrating nutrition and agricultural programs into peacebuilding initiatives, protecting humanitarian corridors, and promoting a global peace plan grounded in human security and dignity. We call on European institutions, governments, and civil society to mobilize resources, elevate food security in diplomacy, and unite in building a world where peace and the right to food go hand in hand.
