Mr. KC’s Statement on the Thailand-Cambodia Conflict, Calls for Maximum Restraint

Statement

Monday, December 8, 2025 – I am deeply concerned by the latest conflict in which Thailand has launched airstrikes into Cambodia as fighting has erupted across multiple areas along their disputed border. This escalation has resulted in tragic loss of life, and thousands of civilians from Thailand’s northeastern provinces of Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani, as well as Cambodia’s northern provinces of Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey, are fleeing for safety.

It is distressing to witness both nations breaching the ceasefire agreement reached in July. The renewed violence threatens the stability, security, and well-being of communities on both sides of the border.

I urgently call upon both Thailand and Cambodia to exercise maximum restraint, return to dialogue, and recommit to a ceasefire that can pave the way toward a lasting and peaceful resolution of the border dispute.

I am continuously offering my mediation efforts in support of peace, as the people of both nations strongly desire lasting stability. This commitment aligns with my Global Peace 2030 Agenda, which upholds the principles of peaceful coexistence and conflict resolution.
