Mr. KC Calls for a Ceasefire and Peace Talks Amid Ongoing Conflict in Ethiopia

25 September 2026 – Renewed fighting in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region and neighbouring Amhara and Afar regions has raised grave concerns for civilians. I call on all parties to cease hostilities immediately, protect civilians and come to the peace table.

I have called many times for all parties to come to the peace table. Today, I again invite Ethiopia to join the “Peaceful Nation” roadmap as part of Global Peace 2030. There can be no more excuses for continued violence against the wishes of people who want peace, stability and national unity.

My position is clear: peace in Ethiopia is possible. All parties involved in the conflict must agree to a ceasefire and come to the peace table. I am ready to cooperate in mediating peace talks between them.

The people of Ethiopia want lasting peace, stability and national unity. Let us work together to achieve it.

Peace is the only solution.
