PRESIDENT KC MEETS GOVERNOR OF CENTRAL EQUATORIA AS THE STATE IS DECLARED A “STATE OF PEACE”

Juba, 15 September 2026 — President Mr. Sappan KC Hum held an official meeting with His Excellency Emmanuel Adil Anthony, Governor of Central Equatoria State, on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, at the Office of the Governor in Juba. The meeting formed part of President KC’s official peace mission to the Republic of South Sudan.

During the meeting, President KC formally presented his Special Proposal for the Declaration of Central Equatoria as a State of Peace and Juba as a City of Peace, with a Roadmap Towards 2030.

His Excellency Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony accepted the proposal and declared Central Equatoria a “State of Peace.” This declaration represents an important public commitment to peace, reconciliation, dialogue and non-violence, with the relevant state institutions expected to advance the formal adoption and implementation process.

President KC presented his vision for South Sudan to advance towards becoming a peaceful and stable nation by 2030. He explained that the proposed declaration of South Sudan as a “Peaceful Nation” would represent a national commitment to peace, reconciliation, dialogue, non-violence and sustainable development.

During the discussions, Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony expressed his appreciation for President KC’s peace initiative and his support for the proposals presented during the meeting. The Governor also expressed support for advancing the proposed declaration of South Sudan as a Peaceful Nation and for the broader objectives of Global Peace 2030.

President KC and the Governor discussed reconciliation, national unity, dialogue and non-violence, as well as the possible contribution of President KC, the Europe Peace Foundation and Global Peace 2030 to future peace talks, consultations and mediation efforts aimed at supporting lasting peace in South Sudan.

Honourable Jacob Gore, Minister for Peace Building of the Government of Central Equatoria State, together with other senior state officials, also attended the meeting.

The discussions further addressed the importance of implementing peace initiatives at the grassroots level through cooperation among the Government of Central Equatoria State, Juba City Council, relevant national institutions, civil society, local communities and regional and international partners.

Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony welcomed the willingness of President KC, the Europe Peace Foundation and Global Peace 2030 to contribute, where appropriate and in coordination with the relevant authorities, to future dialogue, consultations and mediation efforts aimed at bringing parties together and supporting lasting peace.

President KC welcomed the Governor’s positive response and reaffirmed the readiness of the Europe Peace Foundation and Global Peace 2030 to support dialogue and mediation impartially and transparently, while fully respecting the sovereignty, Constitution and territorial integrity of the Republic of South Sudan.

President KC stated during the meeting:

“I want South Sudan to be known as a country of peace—not a country of conflict or violence, and not a country defined by United Nations missions and refugee camps. I want to see South Sudan recognised internationally for peace, stability, national unity and development.”

President KC explained that his visit formed part of the Global Peace 2030 mission to promote lasting peace, national unity, reconciliation, human rights, dialogue and non-violent solutions to conflict. He reaffirmed his commitment to cooperating with the Government and people of South Sudan, civil society and relevant regional and international partners in their efforts towards lasting peace.

President KC was accompanied by members of the Europe Peace Foundation and Global Peace 2030 Representation Office in South Sudan, including:

Mrs. Nyabalash Juaj Bol, Health Programmes and Safety Officer;
Ms. Flora Lokudu Latio, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding Officer;
Mr. Moses Jamaica Sakondo, Social Dialogue and Mediation Officer; and
Mr. Sunge Emmanuel, ICT and Communications Officer.

President KC has been on an official visit to the Republic of South Sudan since 13 September 2026. His programme in Juba includes engagements with government institutions, senior officials, Parliament, communities, young people, civil society organisations and refugee communities. The discussions have focused on peace, reconciliation, humanitarian concerns and cooperation towards achieving lasting peace by 2030.
