Mr. KC Calls for Peace Talks in Sudan
Statement

Thursday, 30 July 2026 – I am deeply concerned as armed conflict and unrest continue across Sudan, particularly in North Kordofan and the city of El Obeid. I call for an immediate end to all forms of armed violence, the killing of civilians, and the forced displacement of communities.

For many years, the people of Sudan have endured violence, instability, displacement, and immense suffering. This must change. I have already written to the relevant parties, and I once again call upon the Government of Sudan and all parties involved in the conflict to declare an immediate ceasefire and enter into inclusive peace talks.

The time has come to build a peaceful and stable Sudan—one that can become a beacon of peace in Africa and throughout the world. Violence and killing must become part of the past. Sudan’s new generation deserves to inherit a country defined by peace, stability, opportunity, and hope.

As part of my Global Peace 2030 initiative, I continue to offer my good offices and mediation to facilitate initial peace talks between the Government of Sudan and all parties to the conflict.

I urge every party that remains on the path of violence to choose the path of dialogue and peace. Listen to the wishes of the Sudanese people and recognise what the international community hopes to see in Sudan: lasting peace.
