Friday, June 12, 2026 – President Mr. Sappan KC visited SIGNS in Nairobi, a pioneering social enterprise dedicated to enhancing disability awareness and promoting Deaf culture. During the visit, he toured the Signs TV studio and met with the Director, Mr. Luke Kizito Ojiambo Muleka.
During the visit to SIGNS, one of Kenya’s leading institutions in media, sign language, and disability advocacy, President Mr. KC acknowledged and appreciated the initiatives undertaken by SIGNS. He stated that SIGNS serves as an example to the world as the world’s first sign language broadcasting television station. He further affirmed that global technology leaders should provide greater platforms and support for initiatives such as SIGNS so that similar efforts can expand worldwide and indirectly contribute to global peace.
Mr. KC emphasized that disability inclusion and accessibility are important components of peacebuilding. He highlighted the connection between peace, human rights advocacy, social inclusion, accessibility, and the empowerment of persons with disabilities, particularly individuals who rely on sign language communication.
Mr. KC also met members of the Deaf community and communicated with them through sign language.
President Mr. KC was accompanied by the Head of the Representation Office in Kenya, Mr. Michael Joseph Bole; Deputy Head, Mrs. Zilpha Samoei; Secretary, Mr. Joab Mandela; and Member, Ms. Brenda Odoyo.
As part of his Global Peace 2030 World Tour, Mr. KC concluded his visit to Kenya, where he met with senior government officials, organizational leaders, and civil society representatives, who expressed their support for the vision of making Nairobi a City of Peace and Kenya a Country of Peace.
