Lebanon / Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire: civilian casualties & displacement
Since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire in November 2024, more than 100 civilians in Lebanon have been killed in Israeli airstrikes, despite the official truce. Over 80,000 people remain displaced in Lebanon; roughly 30,000 in northern Israel.
We at EPF emphasize that ceasefires alone are insufficient without sustained peace processes grounded in justice, accountability, and inclusion. Without addressing root grievances—land, rights, security—violence is likely to resume, plunging further generations into trauma. Europe’s role must be one of mediator, supporting neutral forums where all voices, including marginalized and torn communities, can be heard and reconciled.
