In the wake of the new ceasefire in Gaza, the urgency of humanitarian aid cannot be overstated. Decades of conflict, the recent escalation, and the blockade have left vast swathes of the population without adequate access to food, water, shelter, medical care, and clean energy. Children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses are especially vulnerable.

The Europe Peace Foundation calls on European governments, the EU, and international partners to mobilize immediate, large-scale, and unfettered aid — not as charity, but as a moral and legal obligation under international humanitarian law. The ceasefire must translate into practical improvements in daily life, with safe corridors for aid, protection for relief workers, and guarantees that delivery is impartial and nonpoliticized.

At the same time, humanitarian efforts must be paired with a credible long-term peace plan to avoid recurring cycles of violence. The Foundation advocates for multilateral mechanisms to support reconstruction, transitional governance, disarmament, and justice and reconciliation processes. Europe must leverage its diplomatic, financial, and technical capacities to help build resilient institutions in Gaza and in the Palestinian territories more broadly, anchored in a two-state solution and respect for human rights.

Peace is not achieved by silencing bombs alone — it requires sustainable security, political inclusivity, accountability, and partnerships grounded in trust.
